Humans of D&E/Elkins

How do you feel about graduating?

"I'm excited to get into the real world, but not knowing where I'll end up makes me nervous at the same time."

How do you like your first year at D&E?

"It's obviously very different from back home in Canada, but I'm glad I made the choice to come out here so I could play lacrosse and make some new friends."

"I like that one! That's sweet."

"I'm from Maryland, but we'll just say I'm from here."

"My family is from here originally, so my heart is still here though I live in Maryland. I hope to see this photo published soon."

"That picture makes me look like I'm actually good at ping pong."

Inauguration Week

During the inauguration week, I was able to attend three of the events held at D&E. The first one was the guest speaker, Hank Steinbrecher, for the student athletes on Monday, March 27. The speaker was very inspirational and brought about great pride for the school. The second event that I was able to attend was the Rise Against Hunger event that previous Sunday the 26th. The student athletes helped package 15,000 meals for those in need around the globe. The experience was fun and rewarding. The last event I attended was the inauguration of President Wood on Thursday, March 30. It was just a nice event to witness knowing that things like this do not just happen every year. My peers and I all enjoyed ourselves. I was unable to attend the speech by the poet laureate, but he did make an appearance in one of my classes. I was unable to take photographs of the speaker in my class because I did not want to disturb everyone. The speaker did though have great advice to give and the class looked very engaged with him the entire time.

5 Compositions and Golden Ratio

This is a photo of a fountain I found on spring break in Maryland using the golden ratio.
Here is another fountain just across the street. This photo is composed as a rule of thirds.

This is another photo from my trip to Wyoming over Thanksgiving. This is composed using framing.

Here is my sister's apartment building in Maryland. This is composed using symmetry.
This is a nice little waterfall fountain I found in my sister's place. It is composed as having a clean background.
This is the view overlooking some of the landscape of West Virginia off of route 33. This is composed using depth.
